So, this is for 3D environment artists, who may want a short-cut, Matterport. Usually, real estate brokers own the $4500 RGBD scanning camera, and they pay a few hundred dollars per house scanned to Matterport.
The technology is pretty cool, though pricey. If one were to design a game, where scanned environments were in the art department’s pipeline, I could see the investment being worthwhile.
Woofbert, a VR experience, allows the user to explore famous museums from around the world. Aside from an atrocious interface, Woofbert seems to be an artist generated recreation of the museums. I would think if I were recreating museums and famous places in 3D VR, Matterport would streamline the process.
